The "American Driving School" was established in 1983 and has been continuously in operation since then. There are offices in both Catskill and Lake Katrine (Kingston). There are 4 state certified instructors, a general manager and office managerfor each office as well as two training vehicles (cars) for teaching new drivers young and old. The school offers both classroom instruction as well as hands on driving instruction. The physical building includes the Catskill office as well as a 1-2 bedroom apartment above. Both the office and the apartment are occupied and in very good condition. Located on Main Street in the heart of the village of Catskill, this is considered a prime commercial location with heavy foot and vehicle traffic. The Catskill Town Hall is directly across the street while the county seat is just a few doors down on the other side of Main Street. Commercial zoning along Main Street allows for a multitude of commercial and retail uses. There are numerous professional offices, restaurants, bars, botiques and apartment buildings alon that part of Main Street.
