The restoration architect faced a dilemma-- the house would originally have had no indoor plumbing. So his strategy was to imagine what late Victorian/Edwardians- the first generation of indoor plumbing- would have done. There are many examples of what that strategy resulted in its execution such as replacing any broken window panes with historical, wavy glass, replacing flooring from period equivalent homes and barns, the Greek Keystone pool, Edwardian faucets and putty colored floors. The marble kitchen island was tea-treated to create a patina of use, the Greek egg design surrounding the front door was painstakingly restored, the original front door bell pull was reinstalled.
